We are the only national organization run by active correctional officers, for active correctional officers. CUSA uses dues money and resources to advance our mission and provide the best benefits and services possible to our members. Our goal is to constantly improve and expand your benefits and services. The organization is dedicated to making life safer and better in any way we can for you and your family. Together, there is nothing we cannot achieve.
Corrections USA is a non-profit Organization. CUSA dues are not tax deductible as a charitable contribution, but may be deductible as a business expense. CUSA estimates that 8% of your dues are not deductible because of CUSA’s lobbying activities on behalf of its members. In addition, it is estimated that 30% of Premier Plan member dues and 36% of Premier Plus Plan member dues represent non-deductible life insurance costs and other benefits.

Officers Helping Other Officers
Corrections U.S.A. assists correctional officers in every way possible, particularly when needed the most - helping families of fallen officers; working with union leaders in developing collective bargaining strategies; and fighting private prisons in your communities. In addition to providing assistance to officers and their families who have job related incidents, CUSA is in the process of developing a Disaster Relief Response team to help correctional officers and their families who have fallen victim to natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, fires and earthquakes. CUSA is the national voice for correctional officers. We represent our profession with the media, legislators, and in support correctional officers at events nationwide. Top
Prison Privatization
Corrections U.S.A. is the leader in the fight against prison privatization. It is our number one priority. CUSA has retained the services of Ken Kopczynski, Executive Director of Private Corrections Institute (PCI), the leading consultant in the nation, to help fight the for-profit private corrections industry. CUSA and PCI are implementing an aggressive strategy to fight the for-profit private corrections Industry. Top

Federal Lobbying Services
Corrections U.S.A. has retained the services of the Winter Group for Washington representation for 2007. We are the only Association in Washington, D.C. that focuses exclusively on the Correctional Officer Profession and are the leading national voice for publicly employed correctional officers. Working with S.M. Lahey Associates, CUSA was successful in ensuring that correctional peace officers can carry concealed weapons across state lines and federal grant money pays for half the cost of purchasing puncture resistant vests for correctional officers at the state and local level. To build on this success, CUSA’s federal lobbying efforts will focus on issues that have a direct impact on correctional officers who work in state and local public facilities. We will also join forces with victims of crime groups.
As An Organizational Member, You Will Receive:

- Each year CUSA conducts a lobbying day for organizational members. Members will be provided with all the background and materials necessary for a successful day of meetings with state congressional delegations on Capitol Hill.

Federal PAC
Corrections U.S.A. is in the process of developing a Federal Political Action Committee. We will use this PAC to further the correctional officer agenda at the federal level. Organizations belonging to CUSA may participate in PAC activities. Top
Political Action Committee For State And Local Elections
Corrections U.S.A. has a PAC that provides contributions to candidates for state and local offices. We use this PAC to further the agenda of our member organizations at the state and local level. Organizations belonging to CUSA may participate in PAC activities. Top
Clearinghouse Of Information
Corrections U.S.A. has a new web site to serve as a clearinghouse of information for correctional officers. It is easy to read and navigate. In the Members Only Section we have valuable information about your profession. Here are just a few examples of what is available on our web site: Reports, studies, and statistics on corrections; breaking news; a calendar of events on corrections; collective bargaining Information (MOUs); prison privatization updates; and federal legislative updates. Newsletters
Organizational members receive a quarterly newsletter for professional correctional officers, and monthly e-newsletters on issues such as prison privatization and federal legislation. In addition, CUSA members receive e-mail alerts on issues of importance. Top
Networking
Corrections U.S.A. gives you access to the top leaders in Corrections in the country. We have at least two conferences a year, giving union leaders the opportunity to meet other union leaders, share information, and learn from one another. It is all about officers helping other officers. Admission to CUSA conferences are free for members. Top
Medal Of Valor
Each year Corrections U.S.A. pays tribute to correctional officers for extraordinary acts of valor at our annual awards ceremony. Top
Correctional Officer Of The Month
Each month CUSA pays special tribute to an officer who is assaulted on the job. Top
Accidental Death Insurance (Individual Members Only)
CUSA has a death insurance benefit for correctional officers who are individual members at the $20 a month level. Top
Legal Defense Fund
CUSA is in the process of developing a Legal Defense Fund for correctional officers for individual members. We look forward to providing this important benefit. Top
